Coca-Cola deploys AI order suggestions for Malaysian shopkeepers
The beverage firm's Coke Buddy system now advises tens of thousands of small retailers in Malaysia on stock choices using predictive analysis.
Coca-Cola has expanded the use of its Coke Buddy ordering platform in Malaysia, where the system now generates product recommendations for roughly 39,000 retail locations. The tool is designed to help shop owners decide which items to restock and how much of each to purchase, aiming to streamline the replenishment process.
A feature called Perfect Basket underpins these suggestions, relying on a Central Recommendation Engine that processes multiple data points. According to the company, the engine looks at a store's order history, how frequently it places orders, seasonal shifts, local weather conditions, and the buying habits of comparable outlets to tailor its output.
The initiative reflects a broader push by consumer goods firms to embed machine learning into distribution workflows. Coca-Cola has not disclosed specific performance metrics for the Malaysian deployment, but the company indicated the system is intended to reduce guesswork for retailers and improve supply chain efficiency.
